Can you breed white boxers

This is similar to a condition observed in Collies which is called "Collie nose. The most accurate record of the percentage of deaf white Boxers comes from the current records of Boxer Rescue Services. It is known that deafness results when the cells of the skin lining the ear canals lack pigment. As a result of these observations, some breeders may choose to dispose of their white, check, or parti-colored Boxer puppies by euthanasia or simply by placing these puppies, unregistered with the AKC, in homes as companion animals.

The practice of placing white puppies should be done carefully. A responsible breeder should require that any white or mismarked puppy must be spayed or castrated if placed as a companion animal. Some good points there, I agree that White Boxers with blue eyes shoud not be bred because of the chance of deafness.

However, I must point out that one of the 'founding fathers' of the breed was White, therefore I don't agree that they are 'novel' nor do I agree with the Kennel clubs insistance that White Boxers are not the 'breed standard'. Also, Flashy Boxers carry the genes for White pups, so surely the KC must agree that if they don't want White pups, we can't breed Flashy Boxers together?

It's such a difficult issue, especially due to the fact there is very little scientific research, it is mostly anecdotal. Personally I have no intention of breeding my White Boxer, and I agree that people should not be breeding in an attempt to produce White Boxers until we have some scientific certainty about this issue. I shall continue to research in earnest!! Also, I hope you don't thnk I'm getting at you personally about this, I just enjoy a good old fashioned debate about important things such as this!

But also agree that they shouldn't be bred just to get the "rare" whites. I have Dobermans and the smae applies to them. There is a lady up the road that advertises in the local paper- Rare White Dobermans It always makes me cringe. Z factor is the white factor and a genetic setback. White dobermans have serious health problems and most GOOD breeders will avoid producing any dog that is sub-standard than a good healthy doberman, and will avoid breeding to any dog with z factor in it.

Once you breed to a z factor dog, all puppies in that litter are registered as z factor dogs, even if the other parent is clear. It is a fault and sub-standard in the breed. May 10, 1 ,nc. The white coloring of the White Boxer is the same kind of white you see in any other white dog.

Whenever you have recessive genes in both parents, the odds of that trait showing up in puppies is much higher. In fact, In the early days, the majority of Boxers were white, but breeders bred the color out of them because it made these guard dogs too easy to spot. This has caused them to gain favor in some circles again.

The fact that more people are trying to find white boxers is what has caused breeders to begin charging more for the dogs. This is a trend that also began when designer dog breeds started to come into favor. People are now seeking dogs that are poodle mixes or other specialty breed mixes, for the purposes of having pets with traits from two specific breeds. Often the goal is a dog that sheds less or causes fewer allergic responses in people.

WIth white boxers, the goal is simply a beautiful and eye-catching dog that has the breeding, temperament, and personality of the boxer, while not looking like the garden variety boxer. Deafness at birth occurs slightly more often in all white Boxer puppies than it does in fawn and brindle boxer puppies. Besides this, White Boxers do not see more health issues than their counterparts. Old-time breeders would often humanely dispatch white puppies at birth, believing that they would always be deaf and sometimes blind as well.

Likely, it was this culling at birth that led people to believe that white puppies were rare. Their white coat can make them susceptible to sunburn, however. White Boxers do not have a different personality than their brindle and fawn brothers and sisters.
