Eve where to find ice

There are twelve different types of ice asteroids, split into three categories: faction asteroids, enriched faction asteroids, and standard asteroids. Like asteroid ore, unrefined ice takes up a large amount of space and can therefore be time-consuming to transport.

The best sub-capital ship for transporting ice and ore is the Miasmos , a Gallente industrial which can transport up to 63, m 3 63 blocks, or about two loads from a Mackinaw of ice. If you need to haul even larger quantities, it may be worth training to fly a freighter which can hold over ten times as much , or to ship the ice by courier contract. Compressed ice takes up only m 3 per block, and like compressed ore, compressing ice does not change its reprocessing yield.

Like asteroids and ore, different types of ice spawn based on the racial quarters of space. Faction ice both normal and enriched will spawn only in that faction's quarter. As with asteroids, more valuable ice spawns at lower security ratings, and each system can spawn all ice types of higher-security systems in the same quarter. Ice mining works in much the same way as ore mining : equip a ship with ice mining modules, approach and target an ice asteroid, and activate the mining module.

At the end of each cycle, one unit of ice will be deposited in your ship's cargo or ore hold despite its name, the ore hold can hold ice too. However unlike ore mining ice mining modules can only be fit on Mining Barges and Exhumers , and the asteroid mining drones cannot be used.

Specialized ice harvesting drones must be used, which also come in T1, T2, Augmented, and Excavator flavors, and also use their own skills: ice harvesting drone operation , and ice harvesting drone specialization. Train this to level V to use the Tech 2 ice miner. Mining Upgrades is needed to install mining upgrade modules which further decrease the cycle time of ice miners.

Since most mining modules are fairly CPU-intensive and fitting ice mining upgrades only makes this worse , you will probably need to train some fitting skills to take full advantage of your ice mining ship. The Prospect and the Endurance can both fit Ice Mining Lasers, but the Endurance has bonuses that reduce the cycle duration.

They are much more maneuverable and can fit cloaking devices, making them well suited to operating in dangerous wormhole space. As with standard mining, each hull is suited for a different style of mining, but none have any particular focus in harvesting ice resources.

While all Barges now use two ice harvesters, the Procurer only has two low slots, while the Covetor and Retriever each have three allowing for an additional harvester upgrade.

As when using these ships for ore mining, the choice depends on your play style. Also, ice belts only appear in specific systems, to find a system that spawns ice belts you can use Dotlan to help you find them. The later tier of ice harvesting vessels are the exhumers.

They are the ultimate miners maximizing the abilities of the mining barges. Training for an exhumer is, however, a time-intensive activity and should only be done if you intend to become a professional miner.

To be able to fly an exhumer you need the Exhumer skill at level I. This will take a few weeks of skill training to accomplish. Below are the traits for each exhumer. As you can see the added bonus you get from upgrading from a barge to an exhumer is not that great for the total yield.

However, the exhumers can be fitted with better modules and in the case of the Skiff, it can be fitted to tank null-sec rats and be a really hard nut to crack for high sec gankers. And as with the mining barges, I would personally only use the Skiff or Hulk depending on the mining scenario. Drones designed to harvest ice are available to increase your potential profit from ice harvesting. These drones require the skill Ice Harvesting Drone operation I for you to operate them, with the tech 2 version requiring that skill to be at level V in addition to Ice Harvesting Drone Specialization at level I.

These drones require 50Mb bandwidth which means that of the mining barges only the Covetor can operate these drones, while every exhumer can operate a single drone. Your skills, modules and ships are not the only things that will increase your ice harvesting profits. Yes and no. This guide has now gone over the stats, ships, and skills needed to be a successful ice harvester. Which also indicates the most important thing: get the hell out of The Forge.

The further you are from Jita the more likely it will be that you find ice. Do Little Virgin Plc Evictus. An hour if you're lucky on weekends or holidays.

If you play at a time that is inconvenient for EU and US time zone you can sometimes have an ice belt to yourself on a weekday - rare but fun and profitable when it happens. Yes I am checking my system scanner but just refuges, Dens etc. I have no option but to stay in the Forge so moving is not an option. Does anyone know the names of the systems in The Forge where the belts usually spawn? Dotlan seems to be out of date too. To the best of my knowledge, dotlan is up to date - except it still shows some retired agents - I can live with that.

Ice belts will only appear on your scanner during a spawn. In the forge, fleets will be waiting for them and even if you catch the spawn, you'll be lucky to fill your barge before they're gone.

And be prompt as the popular ones vanish quick and then you have a 4 hr wait for the next one. Dylenta Industries. You should check out Youtube for some visual tutorials.

It will help give you a basis for scanning down the belts. Caldari State. Nex Killer. They show up on your probe scanner automatically. When they go down its a 4 hours respawn timer on them. Walton Street.
